Master's candidate in Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara's Bren School, studying conservation, environmental policy, climate resilience, and regenerative ways of living with nature. During non-desk hours, I'm often hiking and/or birding, giving far too much effort in beach volleyball, chuckling at clever crossword clues, or photographing neature.
Shooting with a camera is my longest-running hobby. It's outlived Lego set construction, Chicago sports fandom, Pokémon card collecting, and through-the-mail autograph hunting, among other pursuits that fell to the wayside years ago. My photos capture more than just scenes for me; they capture my feelings at the moment the shutter clicked.
My research focuses on cutting-edge topics in technology and innovation. I'm particularly interested in exploring how emerging technologies can solve real-world problems and contribute to scientific advancement. Here you'll find information about my current projects, publications, and research interests.
I'm an iNaturalist evangelist because I think we all care more for what we can name.
"Paying attention is a form of reciprocity with the living world, receiving the gifts with open eyes and open heart."
