Overview

Amphibians and reptiles are sensitive indicators of ecosystem health. This project investigates how herpetofauna communities respond to ecological restoration, tracking species richness, abundance, and community composition across restored and reference sites. The work aims to identify which restoration practices most effectively support the recovery of herp communities and to establish these taxa as viable indicators of restoration success.

Research Questions

  • How do herpetofauna communities differ between restored, degraded, and reference sites?
  • Which habitat features are most predictive of herp species richness and abundance?
  • Can amphibian and reptile assemblages serve as reliable indicators of restoration progress?
